Marlene Bogard

     Resourcing congregations and families in Christian faith 



Marlene Bogard is an ordained minister with the Western District Conference, Mennonite Church USA, where she serves as full-time Minister of Christian Nurture and Resource Library Director. She has received certification in C-Prep (Christian Relationship Enhancement and Prevention) and is a certified trainer in the Prevention of Clergy Misconduct from the FaithTrust Institute. She has also received an MA in Christian Ministry from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas and has studied at Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary--Great Plains in North Newton, Kansas.  Suggested fee for a sermon or one-hour workshop is $75 plus travel and expenses.  For additional resourcing or planning time for special events, additional fees would be negotiated.  All honorariums go to Western District Conference.

Christian Nurture

  • Evaluate Christian nurture needs, brainstorm solutions, offer new models
  • Promote and train educators in the Gather 'Round curriculum
  • Sharpen awareness of Christian education as spiritual formation
  • Assist congregations in developing milestone ministry
  • Coach congregations on hospitality
  • Counsel congregational youth/adult mentoring
  • Advise church librarians in policies, collection development and promotion 

Marriage and Family Ministry

  • Present seminars and week-end retreats for marriage enhancement using the C-Prep materials (Christian Prevention and Relationship Enhancement)
  • Provide resources for nurturing faith in the family
  • Evaluate congregational ministry to families and households
  • Encourage the development of family rituals and traditions for faith formation 

Safe Sanctuaries

  • Raise awareness of the risks and rewards of ministry to children and youth
  • Advise congregations in the development of child protection policies
  • Provide training in the prevention of clergy misconduct
